Symptoms

The danger signs of true choking are:

  • Inability to cry or make much sound
  • Weak, ineffective coughing
  • Soft or high-pitched sounds while inhaling
  • Difficulty breathing - ribs and chest retract
  • Bluish skin color
  • Loss of consciousness if blockage is not cleared
