Symptoms

Symptoms may be very few at first, and can include:

  • Fever
  • Petechial (spotty red or purple) rash
  • Irritability
  • Anxiety

Later symptoms and signs may include:

  • Ill appearance
  • Changing level of consciousness
  • Shock
  • Large areas of bleeding or blood clots under the skin
