What to expect at the emergency room The patient may be given activated charcoal and a laxative. Symptoms will be treated as needed. Some or all of the following procedures may be performed:
Expectations (prognosis) Patients who receive quick treatment make a good recovery. Cardiac complications may lead to death. Symptoms are often delayed up to one week. They may be treated successfully with several medications.
