Risks
- Blood clots in the legs (deep vein thrombosis), which can dislodge and move to the lungs (pulmonary embolus)
- Pneumonia
- Infection that requires removal of the prosthesis
- Prosthesis dislocation
- Heterotopic bone formation (extra bone growth that can cause stiffness)
