Special considerations Factor XII deficiency is not normally associated with clinical bleeding. In addition, factor XII does not appear to be necessary for the formation of clots for normal hemostasis (stopping of bleeding). Veins and arteries vary in size from one patient to another and from one side of the body to the other. Obtaining a blood sample from some people may be more difficult than from others.
