Love meditation. I’ve been using “love” in my email signatures for the last 6-months. I sincerely wanted to send love to those who read them.
Then, I got concerned that it might turn people off…you know, they might think I’m “sappy” or too “airy fairy.” So, I changed my signature to “In high regards.”
Well…I’m back to using love because I do want to send love to those who read my emails. I do love, “love.” I want to make more of it in my life…I want to feel, hear, and see more love in the world.
To bring more love into my life, I use an affirmation, “I am inspired by divine love,” during meditation and throughout the day. Love nourishes life. It draws the highest good and it displaces fear.
More from love meditation…Fear is powerful too. It obscures love. Fear comes from both instinct and learning. In its instinctive form, it protects from harm, like the fear of walking in a dark alley at night.
In fear’s learned form, messages from family, teachers, and others invoke its state. The intent of their fear producing messages may have been to improve, protect, or control. It’s natural to take in these messages and adopt them as your own when young and/or vulnerable.
Fear can also be deeply rooted whereby it passes on through generations, its carriers simply acting as programmed…not knowing they can challenge and question its grip on their lives…and/or displace it with love.
Sustained fear paralyzes, it stops growth, it produces stress with all sorts of harmful chemicals. It takes courage to move through fear.
More from love meditation…Courage takes trust in your self…self-esteem. It starts with a desire or intent to grow, to want to be whole, to be fully yourself… to express who you are…to love yourself with all your flaws and imperfections…and all your gifts.
It requires listening to yourself, to the small kind voice (not the critical voice) inside that knows you best…that believes in you and knows that you know what to do once all the chatter and layers of fear are let go.
Relaxation acts as an antidote to fear. Learning to relax with meditation, prayer, or relaxation techniques helps let go of the thoughts and worries that produce fear.
The relaxed state is a healing state. It softens and nourishes your soul allowing your true essence to emerge much like watering the soil softens and nourishes the plant’s seed allowing the sprout to emerge.
Being relaxed comes more from allowing than trying or effort. It is coming home rather than going somewhere. It’s coming home to your true nature. When relaxed its easy to feel love.
All the great spiritual traditions acknowledge the power of love. The spiritual dimension of love is loving the “you” that is separate and unique and the “you” that is connected to all things.
Divine love is the knowing that you are self and you are part of the whole, the all, the natural order, God, Buddha, Allah, Great Spirit, whatever words you use for the great source of life.
Sending love to others brings the experience of love to your self as well as to them.
